photo credit: Mark A. Tade It has been said, "it takes a village to raise a child." The same is true about art exhibits. It takes a village…of hardworking, committed, caring folks to make an art show a success. La Tierra De Mi Corazon is one of those heroic community efforts where all players brought their best.
To say that I am proud of the work in this show would be an understatement. As an artist, there are those moments when things gel, and you feel like you have made it to another level in your process, development, and understanding of what it is you do. This exhibit is one of those personal moments. I would be remiss if I didn't mention all the wonderful people supporting "Team Zeran". Thanks go to Bob and Brenna at Modern Gallery for their brilliant framing, Mark A. Tade for professional photography, my husband Jeff Schipper, and family for moral support... ...and thank you to Suzy McGrane-Hop of Gilded Pear Gallery. She is everything an artist would want in a gallery. Not only does Suzy work tirelessly to place my work in fantastic corporate and private collections, she is helping me build my career. Exhibits at Gilded Pear are always beautiful examples of Suzy's exceptional eye for hanging artwork. Openings are festive events where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. This recent exhibit was no different. I was overjoyed to be surrounded by my community of collectors old and new! I'm delighted to announce several pieces found new homes; one before the exhibit opened and more during the opening itself. As you read this, one piece is flying to a new collector's home in California, others are hanging on a walls in Cedar Rapids, and one has found a home in a nearby town. Thank you!!! Thank you!!! If you didn't have a chance to attend the opening, this exhibit will be up until the end of January. As pieces sell, new work is being added, so there is something new to see each time you go. Gilded Pear Gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00-5:00. Feel free to drop by during business hours and see the show. If you have questions or want to purchase a piece, Suzy would love to help you. Speaking of "the Why", I'll be giving an artist talk on Thursday, January 15th from 5:30-7:00pm. This event will be a chance for you to see the exhibit and hear me talk about my concepts and process. These evenings are really something special, won't you join me? ~Mary
